This book examines the significance of the material dimensions of religion and culture. By looking at how scholars have researched religious materiality in the past, and focusing especially upon the variety of ways objects are handled in contemporary religious life, the reader will discover some insight into the interplay between the material and the immaterial. This study of contemporary German poetry represents the first attempt to examine comprehensively and at some length the lyric response to the unification period. It sets out to investigate, by means of close textual analysis, whether the German ‘Wende’ was also a turning-point for poetry, exploring how GDR poets responded both to the revolutionary events of 1989 and subsequently to the new, united Germany. The Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation of the TU Wien has existed as such since the division of the early, very large Faculty of Technical Sciences in 2004. It provides its own study programmes in both subjects, as well as ensuring the mathematical and geometrical basic education of the students of all seven other faculties. The faculty also conducts research in broad and highly crucial focal areas. The current volume is part of a comprehensive commemorative series published in 2015 for the bicentennial memorial of the TU Wien providing information on the research activities, teaching tasks, and history of the Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation, in particular over the last 50 years.
